Citroen C-Crosser clutch failure
I bought a new Citroen C-Crosser in October 2010. It has now run past its warranty and done 42,000 miles, with a full service history. However, the car has developed a clutch problems.
It has a tow bar but never towed in its life and Citroen have offered me 60 per cent of parts as a good will gesture. The total cost of repair is estimated £4500. If the gearbox goes it will cost £14,000.
How can something so expensive be so unreliable? Have I any redress? I bought a new car expecting it to last me at least 100,000 miles with an automatic gearbox for reliability.

Had another report a couple of days ago of clutches failing on these because the crankshaft oil seal fails and the clutch gets soaked in oil.
An automatic would not normally have a clutch, but the C-Crosser and 4007 seem to have been fitted with a robotised automated manual that is prone to failure. But this is a known fault so Citroen should be contributing more.
