What's the best engine for the Nissan Qashqai?
I am thinking about buying a used Nissan Qashqai+2 for my wife to use as the family bus. The car will mainly be used for short, urban journeys but will also be expected to perform on long trips on the motorway approximately six times per year, so overtaking ability is important. Annual mileage is around 10,000 miles per year.
I have looked at the specifications for the 1.6 and 2.0 litre diesels (I've ruled out the 1.5 litre) and the 2.0 litre petrol, and they are all pretty similar (save for the greater torque of the diesels). I've test driven both diesels but not the petrol version. Given our requirements, which engine would you recommend?

There is only one decent engine available for this model Qashqai and that's the Renault 1.6DCI 130. The 1.6 petrol is underpowered and undergeared making motorway runs extremely noisy and tedious. The 2.0 and 1.5 diesels both have DPF problems.
