Should I buy the 2.0 PDI or 1.4 TSI Skoda Octavia?
I'm trying to decide between the following: a brand new Skoda Octavia Elegance 1.4 TSI from Drivethedeal for around £14,500 (includes some extras) or a year-old Skoda Octavia Elegance 2.0 TDI PD for around £15,000. Which makes better sense - the petrol or the diesel version? My annual mileage is about 10,000 miles.

Go for the new 1.4TSI. The diesel will probably gum up its DSG, have a dual mass flywheel and will need its timing belt replaced every four years. The 1.4TSI is chain cam.

It looks as if KIA engines are chain cam, which I believe you recommend. Do you have any brief comments re petrol/diesel and or manual/automatic?

I'd be grateful if you could tell me if the diesel Mitsubishi ASX has a chain-driven camshaft and a DPF?
