Will I need a plastic card licence in 2015?

From the 1st of January, the paper counterpart licence is defunct. Will all of us who don't have a plastic card one now have to get one and how much will it cost?

No, you won't have to. But the smart thing to do is get a photocard now, using your biometric photo held by the Passport Office. This can be done online. In my experience no other country has ever been remotely interested in the stupid paper counterparts, but you can be in trouble if all you have is a tatty old paper licence that's falling to bits.
