Can I cancel my contract hire agreement?
I took receipt of a BMW 535 M Sport three months ago. Two days after delivery the in-car computers displayed a "Vehicle Train" notice. The dealership said to ignore the message as it was probably a "software glitch." However, less than a week later, the notice appeared again. As a result, the car went into the dealer for two days and I was told it was an exhaust pipe issue.
Five days later the notice appeared again, but this time with noticeable lack of power and I was unable to accelerate over 50mph. I now want to give the car back and cancel the contract hire agreement. Am I entitled to reject the car?

Under Clegg v Olle Andersson, House of Lords, 2003, theoretically you can reject the car, but if the dealer fights it would have to go to the full county court and the case will get expensive. Law here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/
