Is it time to ditch the diesel?

Our Ford C-Max 1.6 diesel is almost three years old and mostly used for lots of school/activity runs and averages about 35mpg. It’s worth about the same as an old shape 2013 Petrol engined Vauxhall Zafira/ Ford Focus as a direct trade in without or very little cash to acquire.

Given the latest round of threats to clobber diesel owners should we:
A. Extend the warranty for 2 years at a cost of £750?
B. Trade in for a petrol Car?

I can't tell you because I'm not privy to what George Osborne will actually do. A diesel used the way you describe could run into DPF trouble. And it would be sensible to get out of a diesel vehicle before the predictable mass exodus at which point the values of used diesels will plummet.
