Volkswagen engine problems
Over the years I have had a couple of Volkswagen twin charger problems. The first was a new Golf 160 TSI DSG. The car’s first 37,000 miles were problem free, but then I had the dreaded problems requiring an rebuilt engine (waste of time) and a new engine over the course of the next 25,000 miles. It was actually showing the first symptoms again (misfire) when I handed it back to the lease company at 74,000 miles. I then had a new Polo 180 DSG with in which I covered 18,000 miles prior to handing it back when I changed job.
The purpose of this message is to note that the problem free miles were done almost exclusively on Shell V Power. This may be coincidence, but I was wondering if additives in the fuel or the changed ignition timing or amount of fuel (it improved the mpg by 10% on th Polo, less on the Golf) could have had an effect?

Thank you for the information. But certainly V-Power would help the combustion of the engine and may well lead to more fuel being burned instead of dumped in the oil. New cars are optimised for the ECDC tests on Shell V-Power.
