Why has our air conditioning stopped working?

We have a 2010 Yaris purchased in 2013. Less than a year after purchase the air conditioning stopped blowing cold air. Bath Toyota claimed that this was this was due to us not running the air conditioning regularly (true over the winter months) and charged us £69.99 for re-gassing.

Less than a year later the same problem has occurred even though in this case the air conditioning has been regularly used. Do you think this is a leak and would we have a good case for claiming the money from Toyota as it seems to be a problem with the car when sold?

Unfortunately, failing to use the a/c the first winter must have dried out the seals, so, though the a/c was regassed and, though you ran it regularly the next winter, the seals were already leaking and that's why the gas was lost.
