What do you think of the new diesel EDC automatic gearbox in the Renault Megane and Scenic?

I enjoy your reviews excellent. Renault have brought out a new 1.5 diesel EDC auto gearbox going into the Scenic and Megane. I would be interested in your thoughts, have you seen it? As I'm getting older I would like an automatic Scenic and, for economy, this is better than my 1.5 dci Scenic manual.

I've driven this engine and gearbox in the latest Megane hatchback and it's pretty good - although not as slick or as smooth as the similar DSG gearbox Volkswagen uses. It sometimes feels a little hesitant to change gear when you're driving quickly, but in everyday driving it's good enough. The best part is that it means low CO2 emissions and good fuel economy. In a family car like the Scenic it should work well.
