Buying a new car - Audi A3 or Mercedes GLA?

I have recently retired and need to buy a car that will offer good economy, refinement and reliability. I have narrowed the choice between the Audi A3 quattro sport DSG and the Mercedes GLA 220 auto. Which car would you recommend?

I'd go for the Mercedes and then at least you won't have timing belts to change: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/mercedes-benz/merc.../ Much less 'sporty' drive than the A3 quattro, though.
