Buying a used car - diesel or hybrid?
I have been driving a Skoda Octavia 2.0 TDI for five years and it has been the best car I have ever owned. Now, at 165,000 miles, I am getting the intermittent power drop fault which may be due to variable rotors in the turbo.
I now think it’s best to change the car. I commute five miles to work so an electric or hybrid would be ideal; however, once a month I visit my daughter 300 miles away. My heart tells me to get the luxury of a Skoda Superb Elegance, while my head says I enter the future of motoring and go for a Toyota Prius. I can spend up to £10,000 but would hope to keep the car about five years doing about 12,000 miles a year. What do you recommend?

No reason not to get a Prius or an Auris HSD. You have enough for a Prius Mk III, but the Auris HSD actually drives and handles better and they are extremely reliable. Far more so than any diesel.
