Vauxhall Astra - fault code P2279
I bought a Vauxhall Astra 1.9 CDTI two years ago from a main dealer. Last June the fault code P2279 appeared. This was an air leak and was told it needed a new inlet manifold, which was replaced at the garage.
Three weeks ago the fault re-appeared and I was told it was the EGR valve, which again was replaced by the same main dealer. Now the fault light has appeared again and they think it might be the turbo now, but are not sure. I asked to trade it in and they said unless the fault is sorted they cannot accept a trade. I paid £7500, but now they say if fixed it’s only worth £3000. Where do I stand on this?

Well I can only assist with checks I would do for the fault.
1.Check the boost hose.
2.Check pipe between MAF to intake manifold
3.Check the MAF itself - need cleaning??
4.Check for split in the intercooler.
5.Check all vacuum hoses
6.Check and clean the boost sensor
Rather than trading in it may be best to get the problem sorted. You may want to contact the dealership manager(not reception etc) and or the area manager to explain what has been done to the car so far and that it was unacceptable that the car is still not running correctly given the cost/time that they have had the car. When doing this keep a record of what you say /write. Email is the best way if you can get the managers e mail address.
