Nissan Qashqai diesel - does it suffer DPF problems?
We are planning to change my wife’s Toyota Rav4 for a Nissan Qashqai, but the only automatic version has a 1.6 diesel engine. I think I recall that when Nissan introduced the 1.6 diesel on the old Qashqai you said it was unlikely to have DPF problems because it was designed to heat up quickly. I also understood that the automatic gearbox then used could not cope with the torque.
I can’t get much information from the Nissan salesmen and wonder whether this is the same engine and whether it is relatively free from DPF problems?

The Nissan Qashqai has the same excellent Renault 1.6DCI 130 engine on which no problems reported at all. Renault did not fit its EDC twin clutch box to this engine because it could not take the torque. The new Qashqai has an entirely different CVT transmission, well proven in the previous Qashqai and Juke.
