Buying a small car for £10k - what's best?

I have a budget of between £8000 - £10,000 to spend on a nice small car for my wife. What do you recommend I buy?

FIAT 500. Or wait for the new Toyota Aygo or Renault Twingo.

Stylish and full of character. Really affordable to buy. Low running costs.
Fun to drive in town. Easy to park and manoeuvre. Spacious inside.
Plenty of kit as standard. Quirky looks. Very reliable.
