Nosey Ford Fiesta - what's the cause?
I have just bought a 2004 Ford Fiesta, but it sounds like it has got noisy tappets that don’t quieten, even when warm. I’ve read you can flush engine then add a special oil to quieten noise tappets. Is this worth doing on an old car? I’ve heard engine flushing can do damage to an engine.

If this is caused by oil not getting to the cams and the tappets, then a flush may help. You then need standard Ford 5w/30 semi synthetic oil. If there is already severe wear then a heavier oil may dampen the noise a bit but will lead to other problems.
