Can you recommend a compact 4x4?

Can you recommend a 4x4? The Mercedes A-Class seems to fit the bill, at a price, but the have now changed its MPV shape.

The A-Class was never 4WD in the past, but is now available with 4WD as the A250 AMG 4-Matic 4WD. I liked that car. You can also get a B220 4-Matic 4WD, which isn't as good, but is more MPV shaped.
