Should I keep my boring, reliable Volkswagen Lupo or buy something more fun?
I own a Volkswagen Lupo 2002 1.7 SDI, which is now coming up to 100,000 miles. The diesel engine has been incredibly reliable and I've driven since 34,000 with no problems. I now commute by train, so in the past four months have driven less than 300 miles. My husband has a classic Triumph Herald convertible that we run for fun at weekends. I'm thinking about changing my Lupo and as we have no child or fuel economy requirements I'm tempted by either a Volvo C30 or a sports car, like the Z3 or Mazda MX-5. Is this silly vanity, for such low miles? Should I keep the Lupo and rely on the Triumph for fun?

You've got a boring but practical station car from the days long before DPFs. Going for a more sporty car could be costly, especially one that will be left at a station where the soft top could get knifed. Z3s have soft-tops and are nice in summer, but not sporty. MX-5s are very sporty, but cramped. A Volvo C30 1.6 petrol makes the most sense.
