I will soon need to replace my Volkswagen Golf 1.6 Auto, which will be 11 years old shortly and has over 120,000 miles on the clock. I would much appreciate your advice in choosing a similar sized, fully automatic car, but one with lower carbon emissions and hence lower vehicle excise duty and also a model with better fuel consumption I currently average between 30 and 35 mpg. I can spend £20,000.
