Should my new Ford EcoBoost be returning just 25mpg?

Your ‘real mpg’ figures are hugely different from what Ford says and they never told me about the EcoBoost engine taking thousands of miles before it starts to give good economy. I do lots of motorway driving as well as around town, yet still only average 25mpg. Even on long distances the car's mpg is bad. To say I am not happy with the car is an understatement. Do I have a right to claim the huge extra cost of fuel from Ford or is it a case of just having to put up with it?

I think Ford has merely quoted the only figures that EC Law allows it to quote, which are the results of the EC laboratory drive cycle tests. If Ford told you that you would actually get those figures then Ford is liable. But I think you will find they have only ever written "official test figures" or something like that. However, if you are only getting 25 to the gallon then something is clearly wrong with it. The actual real life averages are 43.6mpg for the EcoBoost 100 and 47.5 for the EcoBoost 125.
