Where can I have the CIM unit in my Saab 9-3 repaired or replaced?

I own a 2007 Saab 9-3, which has been very reliable until recently when an ESP fault developed. This was traced to the steering angle sensor, which is integral to a bigger unit called the "CIM" unit. So far so good. The problem is that it is not possible to source a CIM unit. My local dealer has ordered one from Saab spares and they are unable to give a delivery date. This in itself is not an issue as the car is perfectly safe to drive with the ESP inoperative, however the MOT is due and with the new rules, this constitutes a failure. I asked about secondhand units but have been told that these units are unique to the car and cannot be transferred. This leaves me in the ridiculous situation of having a perfectly safe, serviceable car, with ABS and I believe traction control still working, that I soon will have to take off the road as it will fail the MOT. Do you have any advice as to what I can do?

There are links to the-saab-specialist-register.com/ in every Saab entry in www.honestjohn.co.ul/carbycar. But you have hit up against a problem that is going to take a lot of Saabs off the road. Until someone manufactures these units, every owner of every Saab with a failed one will be sitting on a SORN. All I can think of is that www.ecutesting.com/ or www.bba-reman.com/uk/ might be able to repair the failed CIM units.
