What is causing our Hyundai ix35 GDI to cut out?

We have a 20012 Hyundai ix35 1.6. In the past three days it has cut out three times whilst driving. We are worried about this because of the danger aspect. We have contacted Hyundai but they cannot see us for two weeks.

Presumably it's the 1.6GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection)? For a GDI engine the fuel filter would have to be very fine, and if you filled with fuel that contained a high percentage of ethanol (biofuel) it is more prone to emulsify in cold weather and block the filter. This has been a big problem with Ford/PSA 1.6 diesel engines in a variety of cars, but now it’s warmer the problem might disappear.
