Why don't drivers 'vote with their feet' and shop at places which don't impose parking charges?
Many thanks for your kind reply with the link to all of the recent background on parking penalties. It’s all clearly a minefield and I took the view that to avoid any likelihood of future legal action, I would pay the charge (fine). If you find yourself being registered as a slow payer or defaulter, my guess is that they could ruin your credit rating. However, my point in writing is to alert other drivers of the problem in ALDI, Didsbury and they can vote with their feet to shop elsewhere. If the general public takes the view to shop elsewhere, this is the strongest protest and hits the retailer hard. Just as they and their dubious car park management companies treat the customers. A note in your forthcoming letters column would be very welcome, to warn other motorists that they are now at risk in ALDI car parks.

They are “at risk” in virtually every privately owned carpark and I have been making this point for three years. I campaigned against the change in the law, but Brits being Brits, no one paid any attention until it happened to them.
