I'd like to recommend the new RAV4 with the 2.0-litre Valvematic engine.
In your reply to JT you wrote that you hoped that Toyota will put its 2.0-litre Valvematic petrol engine in the 2013 RAV4. I have a RAV4 bought new this June, and it has the petrol Valvematic 2.0 litre engine and the excellent CVT auto, which I believe you admire in the Avensis. The consumption is far better than my old CR-V (which was excellent in every other respect), and the petrol model comes in one edition only, with every extra one could desire. I thoroughly recommend it.

Many thanks. You are endorsing what I have been telling people. Since I wrote that reply, details of the 2013 RAV4 have come through and the 2.0i Valvematic Multidrive S 4WD remains in the range: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/toyota/rav4-2013/?se...d
