Windscreen wipers are stuck - how can I fix?

The windscreen wipers on my SEAT Alhambra have got stuck. I can hear the motor running with a slipping sound but the wiper blades don’t move. I've also noticed the o/s wiper is nice and secure while the n/s has a lot of play and movement. Could it be a loose nut on the motor spindle?

The mechanism has broken. Yes, could be that a connecting bolt has dropped out. See if you can see any of it by removing the grille at the base of the screen.
