Where can I get a recon ECU for a Focus?

I own a 2003 Ford Focus 1.6LX which I have been very happy with. The car broke down two weeks ago and will not turn over (all the dash lights come on but the engine does not turnover).

The car has been in a Ford garage who diagnosed an issue with the ECU. The ECU was sent away to a third party company for investigation/repair. I have now been informed that there is an issue with the ECU but it is not repairable.

The brand new ECU from Ford would cost £1200 without fitting, please would you be able to advise any companies that would supply a reconditioned ECU (Part Number - 1M5F-12A650-BE).

The car is the family vehicle so any advice that would get us back on the road quickly would be much appreciated.

Well one of the companies that we know of is called www.ecutesting.com/

They have in the past checked and repaired most ECUs. You may want to contact them direct and see what they can do for you.
