Buying a diesel Qashqai - can I use it for short trips?

I'm debating buying a 2010 Nissan Qashqai 1.5 DCi. I do a few odd trips across the country and want something comfortable, but dislike estates. However, I have two concerns:

1) Turbo failures with bills in the thousands to repair
2) DPF failure

It will mainly be used for my daily commute which is a 10 mile round trip (average speed 50mph) but would constant relatively short trips be bad for the diesel engine? Usually I would go petrol but I'm being offered a dci for a great price.

About mid way through 2010 Qashqai 1.5DCIs acquired Diesel Particulate Filters to qualify for EU5 from January 2011. Better to get one without a DPF, then you can't have DPF problems.
