Paint colour variations - has the car been resprayed?

I'm thinking of buying a used Mazda MX-5, but noticed the paintwork in the engine compartment is a different red to rest of car. Has it been re sprayed?

May just be that they don't bother to finish the paint in the engine compartment in production. That's fairly common.
