How much should a replacement cat converter cost?

I have been quoted £2000 to replace the catalytic converter on my Toyota Verso by a main dealer - is this a fair price, It seems a lot.

It's a hell of a lot. But this is not the cat converter, it's the diesel particulate filter. This is one of the the hidden cost of running a diesel that turns round and bites owners after three - six years and wipes out any savings on fuel.
