What could I expect to get from my 1997 Jaguar XK8 at auction, privately or as a trade-in?

I need to sell an 1997 Jaguar XK8 platinum grey coupe 4-litre in fair condition with 125,000 miles. What could I expect to get selling at auction, privately or trading in for a small family car e.g. Fiesta?

Selling privately, you'll probably get somewhere in the region of £4000 for it and probably a little less at auction. Expect a derisory amount in part-exchange against a Fiesta - a dealer is unlikely to want to take a 1997 XK8 in part exchange against a Fiesta. He'll be looking to move it on quickly, probably through auction, and will price it accordingly.
