Electrical gremlins in a 206

My wife's owned from new Peugeot 206 has now been passed on to our son. The rear wiper now comes on for a few sweeps when the doors are opened. It also stops wiping in various positions.

The garage seems to be stumped and is offering two solutions. Rear Motor at £120 + fitting and a BSI (whatever that is) at £300 +. But they do not sound to sure about it.
