Which estate car?
I currently own a 2005 Ford Mondeo diesel automatic estate Ghia X which is extremely comfortable and takes everything I throw in it, but has not been very reliable, expensive to maintain and has reached the end of its life.
We've just sold our house and downsized so for the first time can afford new/nearly new - up to £30,000 - and want a car that will see us through our 60s.
Given I will be doing less than 10,000 miles and after reading all your advice in the Telegraph I want a petrol automatic estate of comparable size, but with so many on the market I want to get it right and get the same level of comfort for our old bones.
What would you recommend?

I would have said Mazda 6 SE-L Nav Tourer 2.0 145PS auto but they don't do the Tourer as a petrol auto. So go for the 2.2d 150 SE-L Nav auto. The new technology of the engine means that there should not be any DPF problems. I've done 9,000 miles in one, no hint of trouble.
