Ford diesel injector failures - is this a known problem?

Are there any known issues with Ford diesel injectors? Our Ford Focus has suffered two injector failures recently, the second happening only about three weeks after the first. Each replacement has cost nearly £500 at a main dealer.

After the second failure, as the vehicle has done barely 45,000 miles, we approached Ford for a goodwill contribution; their best offer is a free service, which won't be due until June 2014, by which time we may well have sold the vehicle.

We feel this falls well short of what we would have expected, namely a contribution now towards the rather large costs we have incurred. Furthermore, it is not specified exactly what a "free service" would include. Are we being unreasonable or do you think Ford ought to improve their offer?

Have the service done early so you sell or p/x the car having just had the service. Will check the car by car entry, add your problem and see if there were any more.
