Buying a reliable and economical car

I am retiring in a few weeks and want to change my car. I currently own a Volkswagen Passat diesel, but want something completely different after a run of horrific repair bills.

I need something reasonably roomy for two people and one medium size dog. I am also looking for reliability, coupled with reasonable running costs. My budget is £15,000 what would you suggest?

Hyundai i30 or KIA Cee'd. Five or seven year warranty and few things go wrong.
