Mondeo rattles when starting from cold

When starting my 2010 Ford Mondeo from cold I can hear a light rattle/tinkle when under acceleration between 1250 - 2000rpm.

There is no noise when warm and no noise when cold and not under load. There's 50k on clock. I bought the car with 15k and no service. All other services have done by main dealer.

Switch to Shell V-Power Nitro+ diesel and see if this persists after a couple of tankfuls. I think it's caused by glowing carbon deposits and the detergents in this fuel might clean them off.

When trying to accelerate hard in 4th or 5th gear my 2006 Focus TDCi is prone to misfiring with the resulting loss in power. At all other times acceleration is fine. What could be the cause of this?
