Can I recommend the IAM's driver training for older drivers?

I hope this may be useful to older readers who are still driving. To help older drivers to maintain confidence in their driving, the Institute of Advanced Motorists offers a refresher session. It is an independent assessment of driving ability carried out by one of their instructors in the driver's own locality There is a check on eyesight and hearing and a chance to correct any bad habits which may have crept in over many years driving. It comprises two sessions, each of one and a half hours, one for town driving and the second driving on roads of varying speeds and signs. I did the course last Autumn and found it invaluable. It increased my confidence to know I was safe on the road for myself and for other road users. Any reader who would like to benefit from a refresher can contact IAM House 510 Chiswick High Road London W4 5RG, email enquiries@iam.org.uk:

Many thanks. I have been running reminders of www.iam.org.uk/motorist/drivecheck55 , but no reason not to again. The more people who do this voluntarily, the safer our roads will be and the less likely these tests are to become compulsory.
