Is my Volkswagen Touran diesel likely to develop any faults soon and should I replace it?

I am driving a 2005 Volkswagen Touran 1.9 TDI that I have owned from new. It has done almost 115,000 miles (about 80 per cent of which was cruising on motorways) and never let me down. It returns a consistent 45mpg and I'd really like to keep it a couple more years, but, given your coverage of problems relating to dual mass flywheels, I'm wondering if I'm on borrowed time and would be advised to trade in sooner rather than later. If your advice is to get rid, do you have any recommendations for a similar style family car with a petrol rather than diesel engine up to £13,000 new or nearly-new? I'm not bothered about having seven seats any more. My main considerations are roominess, reliability and safety.

You probably don't have a DPF to worry about, so it's just the DMF and clutch that might be close to their end of days and will cost about £1200 to replace. Then there's the timing belt and water pump, possibly the EGR, possibly the turbo. For your money you can't beat a Honda Jazz 1.4ES manual. Or perhaps a KIA Venga, Hyundai ix20, Nissan Note or Citroen C3 Picasso. All these have chain cam petrol engines, even the Citroen.
