I recommend Mercedes-Benz owners with power loss problems check their air mass sensors.

In answer to GB's problem with his E-Class Mercedes losing power on acceleration, I suggest he checks the air mass sensor. I had the same symptoms on my 1998 Mercedes-Benz C240, which, on acceleration, shut down the engine to "limp home mode". Upon switching off and re-starting the engine ran normally if driven gently. A new air mass sensor solved the problem and is a ten-minute DIY job.

Thank you for the tip. Several other Mercedes-Benz owners have had the same problem, solved the same way.
