I was interested in your warning about impending failures of diesel particulate filters and dual mass flywheels on diesel engined cars. My Freelander 2 is now two and a half years old. Do I part-exchange it at three years and 50,000 miles? Or do I keep it for six years and 100,000 miles thinking that most of the depreciation will have taken place in the first three years? What are the likely costs on major repairs during the second three years? Do they offset? By the way, fuel consumption, corrected, is 30mpg solo. I would be replacing the vehicle with similar as I am very happy with it.
