Which dog-friendly SUV would you recommend to replace our Toyota RAV4?

We need to consider changing our 6-year old RAV4 before too long and need advice on which models are worth considering. It must be 4WD. We are also looking for good fuel economy, reasonable tax band, reasonably priced services, a long warranty and above all a "dog friendly" boot. We have a budget of up to £25,000. We would not consider a Nissan or Land Rover, but any other suggestions of what we should look at would be extremely helpful.

The side opening rear door and comparatively low floor of a RAV4 makes it more dog friendly than the rest. The 2.0i Valvematic petrol engine with Multidrive S CVT automatic transmission is actually lower CO2 and more economical then the diesel auto, and it has a 5-year warranty. I recently got 45mpg from a Mitsubishi Outlander 2.2 diesel 4WD. Citroen C Crossers and Peugeot 4007s are the same vehicles. Another possibility is a Honda CR-V 2.2iDTEC.

Easy to drive. Most variants have seven seats. Economical diesel engines. Large and practical boot. Decent safety kit.
