Is it time to say goodbye to our 100,000-mile-old Ford Focus?
We currently run a 2003 Ford Focus TDI which we have been reasonably happy with, some comfort issues apart. It has 108,000 miles on the clock and a few dents and scratches which we have not had fixed. We are wondering about buying a petrol Focus C-Max, Nissan Qashqai or Honda Civic. I realise that our Focus will probably go on for a while, but I am worried it may start costing money when big things go wrong.

Yes, it's time to say goodbye to the Focus. The Civic 1.8 petrol is good and I averaged 45mpg in one, which is excellent, while the Nissan Qashqai 1.6 petrol is too low-geared. The C-Max 1.6 Ecoboost 150 is okay and the Focus 1.0 Ecoboost 125 is incredible - it has to be driven to be believed.
