Having bought a used Toyota Yaris 5 weeks ago from a franchised dealer, the gearbox synchromesh isn't functioning properly. Even on the test drive it was hard to get into 1st unless stationary and it crunched frequently getting into 2nd.

The garage offered to repair the car prior to purchase and the purchase was subject to a satisfactory test drive. It has gone back in for the same problem since, but even though it improved a little, there is still strong resistance to going into 1st unless stopped and the change to 2nd still crunches often, though not always, depending on revs. We have driven another Yaris and an IQ, neither of which behaved like this.

Can we reject the car for a full refund please, as my wife has lost confidence in it?
