Do I get my deposit back?

I put down a deposit of £50 for a car 2 weeks ago. I only received a receipt saying "I have received a deposit of £50 for vehicle ... balance of £915 to be paid". Signed the receipt.

The car is insurance write off and the dealer said he has to wait for the log book to arrive. After 2 weeks the log book still hasn't arrived. Bought another car from another dealer.

Do I have to let the first dealer know that I'm no longer interested to buy the car and will I get back the deposit?

Yes, you have to tell the dealer and you are not entitled to get your £50 back.
