Selling a car with no MoT?

My current car is due it's MOT and I do not intend to put it through due to the cost this would entail and also the mileage. I know of someone who may want to buy it but I am unsure as to the correct procedure for selling a car with no MOT.

Presumably the buyer cannot take it for a test drive. Is the buyer permitted to drive it to a storage location or a garage? How liable would I be if anything happened before the V5 got to the DVLA?

You sell it as unroadworthy scrap and get the buyer to sign a bill of sale that he accepts it as such.
