Will my new warranty cover the DPF?

My Volvo XC60 2.4D Automatic [20,000 miles] will be three years old in March. I am about to take out a two-year extended warranty with "Warranty Direct".

I tow a caravan. Is the diesel particulate filter covered? If not does any warranty cover it? If not what is the likely cost of a repair? Have owned the car from new and it has FSH with main dealer.

Probably not because damage to DPFs is usually caused by the way the vehicle is driven. New DPFs are £1,000 - £2,000, and Volvo D5s have had problems with them. The best advice I can give is never do more than three short runs from cold starts without then taking the car on a run of at least 20 miles.
