Thinking of buying my next car from a broker
I am considering buying a new Mk 7 Volkswagen Golf from a car broker, what protection have I got as the purchaser in law and by other means that my money will go to the car supplier and the car will arrive as specified on the appointed day. (i.e, that my money does not go down a back irretrievable hole)

Depends who the broker is.
If it's www.drivethedeal.com I think you are safe because I've never heard of a deal go bad through them, and your money is paid to the supplying dealer rather than to the broker itself.
