Buying a SEAT Leon diesel

I hire these in Spain and France and am impressed. I see that a new model is on its way. I am thinking of buying either a newish old model or waiting for a new model demonstrator. Anyone have a view on what the best strategy might be? Also anyone have any downsides to the Leon diesel?
