Gear selection difficulties - Ford Focus

Engine has been out and separated from gearbox for other repairs, and now I have gearchange problems. When cold, first gear selection and first to second are baulky, but only when moving, not when stationary - and the engine running.

Once car is slightly warm, much better. Once hot after driving, can leave for 2 hours and still okay.

Well it could be that the clutch is dragging, could be hydraulic ( is engagement near the floor).
It could also be misaligned shifter cables.
