Do I have to pay a French speeding fine?

I have just received a speeding fine from France whilst driving a hire car. 80kph in a 70kph zone apparently. I thought I was generally driving very carefully but this is only 6mph over the limit.

The fine is 46 euros for prompt payment but I am wondering how they would enforce the fine if I chose not to pay

Through the UK courts if they want to. I'd pay.
