Do the badges on BMW 1 Series models reflect the engine size?
An elderly friend has a BMW 1 Series and bought it new as a 1.6 engine size, but on delivery found engine was actually 1.8.
The engine size is not badged on the vehicle. I rather dismissed this as that she might be confused but she has recently asked me to book her car in at my local garage for a service and the owner tells me this is a fairly common situation re BMW 1 Series. He cannot fathom why BMW should do it - in fact he tells me some are even incorrectly badged, and some have 1.9 engines!

Standard practise for BMW, Mercedes and SAAB. They badge their cars according to the 'perceived' performance.
