Inadequate car jack - solution?
Discovered yesterday that the manufacturer supplied car jack on my VW Tiguan does not raise this excellent vehicle beyond the travel range of its front suspension. My two ton pneumatic jack was more stable but that too failed to lift the front tyre clear of the ground on a firm surface. Could not swap over the tyre but being home it was just a helpful warning of a difficulty.
We are really pleased with this SUV (2ltr TDI 4x4 DSG) and as a result my wife is buying one too tomorrow from our main VW dealer. When I asked them today about this jack problem they had not heard of it. Yet is seems obvious that manufacturers need to supply larger jacks with taller vehicles?
Only tonight I saw a one poor man with a Range Rover struggling with just this jack issue on the A3 and phoning for help. Are you aware of this problem and if so what is a practical solution please if one cannot get help at the roadside?

Carry a chunk of 4x4 wood in the car to raise the base of the jack.
